Winter Snow lives in Ridgefield, Conn, and writes obituaries for a living. On this day she gets a call from Mrs. Arlington, a wealthy older woman, who wants hers written by this Friday. She meets with her, gets to know her a bit, and her new puppy Diva. The next day after a storm, she goes to check on her, and finds her body at the bottom of the stairs, still alive, but just barely, until she dies, and Winter is a suspect. Turns out, Mrs. Arlington was working on a tell-all novel, that some people would never want to see the light of day. After taking in Diva, Winter starts working on the case herself, even though officers Kip and Tom tell her to stay away. She needs to act fast, before she’s the next to die. A good start to a new series, with interesting characters, a small-town feel, and a cute dog.
