Athena Greydon is engaged to Johnny and plans on quitting her job and moving to be with him once married, and even buys Spite House as a wedding present for him. Then he dumps her before the wedding, in part thanks to his older brother Matthew, who has been like a father to him, mostly raising him after a family tragedy years ago. Matthew never met her, and felt the marriage would be a mistake. When she moves into Spite House, she discovers he is her neighbor on one side, and Johnny is on the other. He tries to make up to her his part in what happened, and soon she finds herself liking him, as much as she doesn’t want to.  They become friendly until she gets mad at him, and starts bothering him with erotic porn being played loud, and anything else she can do to annoy him. He’s amused by it, and is determined to do what he can to help her, and they soon admit to feelings for each other, have hot sex, and put the past behind them, until Johnny finds out about them being together, and then things fall apart.  Can they put things behind them and truly be together?  A good rom-com to start the year off with. These characters are flawed, and help each other out, and the following their relationship is intense, and engaging, and you root for them to be together.

You can pick up At First Spite in stores on Tuesday, February 13th from Avon.
