The Mandalorian (Television, Disney Plus)
Director Jon Favreau really upped the ante this year and delivered a series of episodes that were way more memorable than last year. While it does take a while for the episodes to start adding up to something greater than themselves, the new season benefits from a bigger budget and better set pieces. However, the best episode (The Jedi) manages to deliver everything that a Star Wars fan could want across the board. It has fantastic action sequences, a wondrous sense of something greater than ourselves, nostalgia for our past, some real heart, and it manages to tell its own contained narrative while expanding the larger picture. Truly one of the best episodes of anything this year!
