Deborah and Oz marry young, after meeting as teens at a party in 1962. She’s an aspiring singer, and looking to hit it big. Oz is a bit of a shut-in, with a brother and mother he loves very much. He had a rough childhood (which we learn about over the course of the book), and is haunted by every day, and the abusive father he had. For a while, Deborah and Oz are happy, have a baby girl, but the demons in Oz get to be too much. They on the day of his 37th birthday, as a party is planner, he vanishes, and not one knows if he’s dead or alive (we learn his fate later in the book). This story covers three generations of family, is a very well-written character driven story, and leaves you very emotional by the time you finish it. It’s a novel you don’t want to put down.
