Author Stephen Lloyd has worked on TV shows like Modern Family and How I Met Your Mother and has now written a demonic thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. The story takes place on a private island of the coast of Massachusetts, which house a private, elite boarding school called Danforth Putnam and has been around for hundreds of years. A valuable book has been stolen out of the safe in the library and Sam (a war vet) has been hired by the insurance agency to find it. He starts his investigation and finds things on this island are not what they seem. There’s drugs, steroids and dark magic going on. Meanwhile Harriet works for the school paper and wants to write a story on bullying. She soon finds mysterious and strange things happening as well. Sam is finding dead bodies and it leads to a shocking reveal with his life is in jeopardy and leads to a shocking twist you don’t see coming. The book is sharply written and at only 225 pages if fits in everything perfectly. A good novel to start off you summer reading season.
