McKenzie, his wife and friends are in Wisconsin, it’s a Friday afternoon, and they’re at a wine bar called Terrible Timmy’s Terrific Wine Club, drinking and watching a man on stage sing. Then a man, Tucker Landau, walks in with an AR-15 and looks like he is going to shoot the place up. McKenzie and his cop friend Bobby rush the man and subdue him. The man is arrested and only charged with a misdemeanor, because Wisconsin has an open carry law and he never shot the gun. McKenzie figures out it must have been a hit on someone in the bar, and is asked to stay and help figure out what is going on. Over the days, he interviews everyone who was at the bar and more, and finds out sorted details, but gets no closer to figuring out what was going on that day at the bar. He is determined to figure this out, no matter the cost to himself. This is the 23rd novel in the series, and it’s another good one. The McKenzie character is bad-ass, and the novels never disappoint. Fans of the series will like this one.
