The year is 1992, and in the small town of Ledger, Texas, Deputy Sheriff Tom Bailey finds everyone dead, except for one girl, at the Summer Fun Camp. This isn’t the first time this has happened. Something similar happened there nine years ago and was never solved. Tom finds Laura and the two of them see a mysterious person in a hare mask, who eats the victims, but whoever it is gets away. Tom soon digs into more, much to the chagrin of his boss, who is running for Sheriff. It turns out there were other massacres that go back years, other strange deaths, and when one man is accused of being the murderer, he kills himself, and it seems the case is over, but it’s not as long as Tom is still investigating. It leads to who he thinks is the real killer, and a stunning finale. This is an intense murder thriller, with twists and turns, lots of bodies, and a great character in Tom Bailey. There is a sequel coming that I cannot wait to read. A perfect summer beach read.
