Emma Wheeler was well on her way to becoming a screenwriter in Hollywood, when her father had a tragic fall, and she had to put her life on hold to be his caretaker. Now she has a new chance, where her agent (and former boyfriend) calls her and needs her help to rewrite a rom-com that Charlie Yates (an award-winning screenwriter) has written, that’s awful. She will have to go to Hollywood to work with him for six weeks, getting her sister to care for their father during this time. When she gets there, both she and Charlie are shocked that he didn’t know about it, but he relents and lets her stay at his mansion and work on the movie. Their relationship is an emotional wreck of a man, but good-looking, and they have a love/hate thing at first, until they get to know each other and the walls crumble around them, but Charlie is still a man with issues, they fall for each other, but things happen, and if they can’t get past their emotional issues, the movie may never be written, and they may never be together. This is a fun, well-written, funny at times rpm-com, that hits all the right notes. These are two characters you root for to be together. A perfect beach read. A shout-out to whoever designed the look of this book, it’s one of the best so far this year.
