Smallville centered around the teenage life of Clark Kent (Tom Welling) and his coming into his powers and trying to live as a normal teenager. He does become Superman but Superman is never in the series. Clark’s parents were played by John Schneider as Jonathan and Annette O’Toole as Martha, trying to keep Clark grounded as he gets use to his new life. Throughout the ten years Clark faces many foes, including long-time friend/rival Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) and dates many girls and introduces Lois Lane and experiences heart-break and loss over the course of the series. And by the time the final epsiode airs Lois and Clark are together and he’s ready to become Superman. The show also over the years had other DC characters like Aquaman and Green Arrow. The great thing about the show was the cast and the chemistry they all had together. It was different than anything that had been done with Superman before and even Christopher Reeve approved.
