Gambling movies are some of the most gripping and thrilling to watch. They’re full of highs and lows, and the storylines are often intense and emotional. So, over the years, there have been some epic gambling scenes, many of which have gone down as all-time classics. In fact, some of us try to re-live those scenes when playing our favorite games online at PartyCasino or even between friends on a Saturday night. But with so many to choose from, there is always a debate as to which are the most memorable. Therefore, we have decided to list our very unforgettable clips.
Casino Royale
Casino Royale is one of the top gambling movies of all time, and the scene we’re about to describe is nothing short of iconic, with many suggesting it’s the greatest of all time. James Bond is taking on villain Le Chiffre in a game of Texas Hold’em, and things start terribly for 007. Along the way, he’s poisoned and suffers from a heart attack, but somehow Bond manages to turn things around, defeating Le Chiffre and winning over $100 million.
Goodfellas
Goodfellas is another iconic movie starring Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci. The latter takes on the role of Tommy DeVito in this Martin Scorsese masterpiece, and he’s somewhat unpredictable. Tommy heads to a table where a card game is underway, but unfortunately Spider, a man not involved in the game, forgets to bring over Tommy’s drink. The scene sees Tommy flip out, going over the top with his reaction. It does, however, send out a warning sign that Tommy isn’t someone to be crossed.
Casino
Casino saw Scorsese call on the services of De Niro and Pesci once again, with the pair playing very different characters, who were responsible for the running of a casino. As the film itself centres on the running of a casino, it made for some classic gambling scenes. However, one of our favourites was when a group of people attempting to cheat are caught out. They’re offered the deal of the century when they’re told, “You can either have the money and the hammer, or you can walk out of here. You can’t have both.” It’s an iconic line in gambling movie history and shows cheaters never prosper, not when De Niro and Pesci are around.
Rain Man
Rain Man won the award for Best Picture back in 1988, and Dustin Hoffman, who plays Ray, a man with autism, also picked up an Oscar for his work. Ray, and his brother Charlie, played by Tom Cruise, head to Vegas to take on some of the biggest casinos. Ray is a genius when it comes to maths and especially card counting, and the famous scene is when he says, “Hit me, hit me, hit me”. The approach may have seemed reckless to some, but it leads the pair to a huge win, making it one of the most iconic gambling scenes of all time.
You’ll struggle to find more exciting and memorable gambling scenes than the ones mentioned above. They’ve all gone down in history as iconic moments, and they’re the reason why people watch these films again and again.
