Movie Star Weddings That Got Postponed in 2020

The coronavirus pandemic has changed the lives of the entire population. To prevent the spread of the virus, we have all been staying at home and all social events have been cancelled. This has sadly included weddings, it has been estimated that 64% have been postponed, and even T.V. and movie stars have had to put their big day on hold. On the plus side, the celebrities have been able to have some semblance of a private life, without being chased by paparazzi, because they too have been staying home.

Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez

Jennifer Lopez, star of Hustlers and Selena, was hoping to get married this summer to her baseball player partner Alex Rodriguez, a.k.a A-Rod. The couple have been together for 3 years and he proposed in March 2019. Although J-Lo has been known for her gigantic, brash celebrations, her 50th birthday party being no exception, the couple have insisted that their wedding will be a small affair, just for close family and friends. Lopez recently told Ellen Degeneres in an interview that the engagement has not gone to plan, so now they are unable to set a date for the wedding. Just like everyone else, they are in a holding pattern, waiting to be released.

Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry

The Lord of the Rings star and his pop singer partner, Katy Perry are really not having a lot of luck getting their wedding organised. Initially they were meant to tie the knot in December 2019, but decided to put it off a few months, just so that they could get their arrangements perfect. They then arranged to have their wedding in Japan – a small event with only 150 guests. However, thanks to coronavirus, their big day has been postponed again and may not even happen this year, considering that the couple have a baby due in the summer of 2020.

Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost

Avengers star Scarlett Johansson met her fiance, Colin Jost, on the set of Saturday Night Life and the couple began dating in 2017. The couple were engaged in May 2019 — the ring reportedly cost $450,000. The couple sent out “save the date” cards to friends that were distinctly understated, however, it is expected that their Johansson’s third wedding will be a lavish, star-studded affair when it finally does take place.

Coronavirus has not just affected us mere mortals. Even movie stars are having to postpone their big events, but there will hopefully be some big weddings in the months after lockdown.
