Greetings again from the darkness. In the past, film festivals were about the only hope for a Short Film to get noticed. Along came the internet, providing a medium available to a mass audience. This three-minute short (Yes, 3-minutes!) from Wesley Wang not only found an audience, it garnered a following … and it deserves every ‘like’ and ‘love’.
The film features no dialogue, just subtitles and a song that plays throughout the quick runtime. To connect with violent bunny rabbits, an audience needs a reason. The reason here is that Violet and Marlowe are resisting an all-powerful tyrannical autocrat who has monopolized the supply of carrots … a vital nutrient for bunnies all over. The political commentary is obvious, yet the presentation is so creative and fast-paced that the message isn’t absorbed until afterwards.
“Feel it all Again” by adore is the song playing, and the crafty visuals include clouds, the letters of a keyboard, and the sound of footsteps. As a bonus, Violet and Marlowe make a great team and are quite cute. Remarkably, Wesley Wang is only 21 years old and is pursuing a feature film or TV series based on this short.
