STARRING: MILO VENTIMIGLIA, KEVIN COSTNER, AMANDA SEYFRIED
Denny Swift is a Formula One race car driver who understands that the techniques needed on the racetrack can also be used to successfully navigate everyday life. Besides his career, Denny has three loves of his life — his beautiful wife, their young daughter and his best friend, which is a dog that wants to be reincarnated into a human.
The 2008 novel of the same namesake, THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN, is yet another film featuring lovable fur babies and their relationship with their owners. Let’s face it, anything featuring a dog that makes it to the big screen tends to be irresistible to dog lovers, even though the film may not be the greatest.
Milo Ventimiglia (This is Us) stars as the lead, Denny Swift, an aspiring race car driver who’s bond with his four-legged best friend Enzo (Kevin Costner) has warranted the dog incredible insight into human instinct.
Enzo narrates the heartfelt tale by adding witty humor to the melodramatic mood of the film. After the numerous dog movies that always hit the big screen, it shouldn’t come as any surprise that there will definitely be some sweet mushy moments. On the flip side though, it wouldn’t be a dog movie without some tear jerking moments.
“Man’s best friend” lovers will likely flock to theaters for this one but truthfully, there’s nothing much different than any of the other dog films out there.
