Review by Wesley Collins
The mark of a great film for me is its ability to maintain intrigue and interest throughout the course of the movie. An Affair to Die For did just that. It isn’t a film that is based just on or in beautiful settings and fancies imagery that distracts from diluted dialogue and or acting. It’s a film brought to life through acting, body language, speech, dialogue and emotion. It’s a very direct film with high intensity and motivated characters, which made for a great plot. The director focused on developing the characters at the onset on the film and as a result, it flowed seamlessly throughout.
An Affair to Die For is a great adult film about change, sacrifice, passion and love. Marriage is a difficult union to maintain, let alone honor and that is displayed masterfully in this film. The main character is a married woman, who seemingly has the perfect life, but there’s something missing and only she knows what it is. Her life quickly spins out of control when her fairytale weekend getaway turns into a nightmare and she’s forced to make decisions regarding her own life even. Tragedy is something all people know of. Befalling tragedy caused by oneself however, is a bit different. Is there ever redemption for the pain caused to those closets to us? I’ve had this question for sometime and An Affair to Die For has the same inquisition. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie as it has an element to it of realness as I believe all people who see it, will resonate with it on some level, whether you’ve ever experienced something similar or not.
Many films I watch, I see too much fluff and moments of unimportance that the writer and director “chose” to place in the film. There’s no wasting of time and space in the movie. Everything filmed was of significance, which heightened the most significant moments. I would absolutely recommend An Affair to Die For to anyone of age seeking a romantic thriller with high leverage and emotional moments. It was very watchable and I look forward to hearing and reading what others feel as well. An Affair to Die For is a wonderfully put together film which all who view I believe will enjoy.
