How Will ‘The Lion King’ Do At The Box Office?

One of the biggest movies of the summer is expected to be Disney’s remake of The Lion King. The remake by director Jon Favreau and features an all-star cast includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter as Nala, James Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Seth Rogen as Pumbaa and Billy Eichner as Timon.

This remake is a computer generated version which looks like it is live-action as opposed to the 1994 one which was animated. This version of the film will also features the songs from the 1994 version. The original movie in 1994 made almost One Billion dollars, which for that year is an amazing box-office number. And according to according to SBD, The Lion King will have the highest grossing opening weekend this summer with odds at +300, over Spider Man and Fast and Furious. And the fact that the trailer has been over 32 million times is another good omen for the movie. Disney movies have been very successful lately at the box office so this should add to their big yearly total.

“The Lion King” journeys to the African savanna where a future king is born. Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
