Review by Caitlin Zeigler
‘Funny Tweets’ is a short and straight-to-the-point documentary about people who are funny on Twitter. Some are famous writers and other people got fame, money and good jobs from writing one liners on Twitter. They talk about how they were just being funny to be funny when they started and it turned into a full-time job to be funny on Twitter. Some people would get obsessive and felt like they have to check Twitter all the time. Others regularly posted on Twitter because it’s how they got writing jobs for things like Family Guy or book deals, etc. Alec Sulkin mentions how he got a lot of heat for writing a joke about something terrible while it was happening. Matt Selman regularly takes Twitter off of his phone and adds it back because he needs breaks from it. This documentary mentions the good and the bad of writing a funny tweet. It stars: Andy Richter, Amber Tozer, Alec Sulkin, Brett Ryland, Damien Fahey, Dan Duvall, Dani Fernandez, Matt Selman and more.
It’s not long and doesn’t tell you anything you don’t already know. It mentions how it turned some peoples’ lives around or when and how the hype died down. It talks about how some famous people found talented people to hire. For the most part, this documentary is a time waster. It has some fun moments, but it’s not something you’d go out of your way to see. It’s not bad, but it’s more like something you’d put in your queue and get around to watching eventually.
