Inspired by Adrienne Shelly’s beloved film, WAITRESS tells the story of Jenna – a waitress and expert pie maker, Jenna dreams of a way out of her small town and loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town’s new doctor may offer her a chance at a fresh start, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes for happiness. But Jenna must summon the strength and courage to rebuild her own life.

Dallas Summer Musicals has Waitress – A New Musical next up as part of their 17/18 season lineup. This upbeat and exciting musical features music by Grammy nominated singer Sara Bareilles and has an all female creative team behind the scenes.

Featuring a diverse cast, Waitress bursts with energy right from the opening scene. The set and costumes are visually bright and eye catching, immediately drawing attention. Sara Bareilles music numbers are also great additives as they each incorporate a piece of the productions plot. One of the most memorable songs has to be “When He Sees Me”.

Waitress is definitely an empowering musical and depicts love, friendship, and ultimately happiness, creating a very uplighting experience.
