P H E N O M E N A L!
Officially titled HAMILTON: AN AMERICAN MUSICAL, is a theatrical production about forgotten American Founding Father, Alexander Hamilton. The production tells the story of his ascent out of poverty and to power against the backdrop of the American War of Independence.
On stage at Music Hall Fair Park as part of Dallas Summer Musicals’ current season, HAMILTON is undeniably worth every raving review that is has received. Everything about the production is PHENOMENAL. There is one negative thing that can be said..Well, maybe one….CAN IT BE LONGER!?
If you’re anything like me, I had no idea what the musical was even about; I just knew that everyone was going crazy over HAMILTON. The way it tells the story of Alexander Hamilton gives a bit of a history lesson but in a much livlier way. Various characters such as Aaron Burr, George Washington, James Madison, and Thomas Jefferson are each portrayed in the musical.
This is a musical so expect tons of music, very little dialogue. However, during intermission, you could hear multiple guests murming the same thing: “I usually don’t like musicals but it’s something about this one that is awesome”. Without a doubt! The musical numbers are a mixture of singing and rapping and are presenting in such a way that it’s engaging and not overwhelming.
The choreography in HAMILTON is on point, as each and every moment from the cast is precise and exceptionally smooth. Set changes are done so effortlessly you won’t even notice at times. The witty humor between the characters make for great chemistry and the voices?! There is no doubt HAMILTON packs one of the most diverse and talented casts of Broadway professionals out there.
Without hesitation, HAMILTON is a production worth seeing over and over again! A definite must-see!
