In a mythical kingdom where there are gods, demons, and magic, Sikras is a necromantic who, for a price, will bring back dead people, maybe not the way you want them to look, but back to life. He’s assisted by his best friend, Benjamin (the best new character in any book this year), who is a skeleton with a wicked sense of humor. When Helspira, a demon and soldier, for the Queen, shows up, he and Benjamin are forced to go see her. She wants him to help defeat an old foe, or she will throw him in jail for not paying his taxes. On the journey, Helspira and Sikras grow close, fight off dead fighters, and come face to face with the evil that is trying to take over the realm. It all leads to a major sacrifice, a loss of a loved one, closure of a past death, and a new beginning for Sikras and Helspira. This is a fun, magical novel, with three great lead characters, and my vote for bromance of the year between Sikras and Benjamin. Beware, by the end of the book, you will need tissues. This is one not to be missed.
