It’s Christmas 2014, and for 85-year-old Miriam Caravasios it might be her last one, she suffers from dementia. She’s been in a home, but this Christmas she returns to her beloved home, in Bar Harbor, Maine. With her are her 3 kids, her devoted granddaughter Delphine, and a man named Adam, who assists Miriam. On this cold night Miriam steps out on the ice, like she used to do with her late husband, and the ice cracks, and she dies, of what is an apparent accident, or is it? Any one of these people might have wanted her dead, she was a very rich woman. When the will is read, the children learn they get nothing, and it was mostly left to Delphine. Via flashbacks, we learn about Miriam’s life, and Delphine is convinced she was murdered, and will do anything to prove it. If you’re a fan of psychological thrillers, this is right up your alley. A solid novel to start the new year with.
