Delaney and Tom live in Scotland, are married and are about to celebrate their first year anniversary. She works for a local bookstore, The Cracked Spine and he owns a pub. It’s time for the annual Hidden Door Festival, and they’re one of the lucky ones to get an invite to Ryory Bennigan’s studio, something not many people get, the man is very private about his art. While there they run into Dr. Alan Pace, who works at the University of Kansas, where Delaney went to school, who was trying to sell an artifact. The next day Alan is found dead at the house he’s renting, and Delaney is on the case, helping to look for the killer. It seems almost half the town had an interaction with Alan and they’re all potential suspects. When Delaney overhears a private conversation, she figures out who the killer is and it may be curtains for her. This is the tenth novel in the series, my first time reading one, and I enjoyed this small-town murder mystery. It has fun, quirky characters and the setting in Scotland helps with the story. Fans of previous books will enjoy this one.
