Terra Slater is about to start her senior year. She’s popular, has close friends, and Brick is still hot for her. At the Labor Day parade, a mysterious man named Thorne Wilder shows up and asks her where he is. She has no idea what he’s talking about. Then on the first day of school, she’s assigned to show the new guy around, who happens to be Thorne. He tells her why he is around she is a Golem, and he is a witch. She is made of mud from a Warlock, Mr. Quill, whom Thorne is charged with finding. Terra is the strongest Golem in town, there are a bunch of them, and she will be able to locate him to be charged and killed for evil deeds. That would mean the end of Terra and the other Golems in town. Terra soon discovers her magic, and makes a deal with the witch’s guild to bring him in, but to spare his life so she can live. When it is time to bring in Quill, all hell breaks loose, and it’s up to Terra to stop what goes down. This is the debut novel from author Birch, and it’s a great, magical, romantic first novel. The characters, the story and the fantasy elements all click. Fans of this genre will enjoy this one.
