Liz and Tom have moved to a small suburban town with their two kids. Liz is not crazy about this place, but Tom is, and their marriage is not in a great place. When they get invited to a dinner party at the home of Britta, an Instagram star, and a woman who thinks she’s the queen bee, Liz does not want to go. They end up going along with five others, and midway through the night an alert is put out, a deadly mass is spreading through the air, already having hit the UK, and cut off all communications. Everyone is to shelter in place and take cover. Do not go outside. All the guests go to the wine cellar to try and stay safe. For Liz and the other mothers especially, they’re determined to leave to get back to their children no matter what it takes. Over the course of the hours that pass, fighting will take place, secrets will be revealed, and three women will do what it takes to leave, no matter the cost. An intense novel that ramps up the tension as you read along. It also shows what how a mother’s love for her children will overrule anything else. You will not want to put this one down.
