Ryanna Raines hosts a popular true-crime podcast, and it’s time for season six. She gets a call on her tip-line from Jordan De Carlo, who is the prime suspect, along with his girlfriend, of the brutal murders of his parents. He wants Ryanna to talk to them, and get ahead of the story. They could be charged any day now. She spends days with them interviewing them, along with friends, family, attorneys, and the police. They seem to have a solid alibi, and she’s not sure if they’re innocent or guilty. Then they’re arrested, she gets to do jailhouse interviews with them, as long as she doesn’t post them until a verdict is made one way or the other. But she learns new information about what really happened that night, and we slowly learn the shocking truth. This is written just like it’s the actual podcast, and it’s an engaging, page-turning mystery. I don’t listen to podcasts, but in this format, it’s a great novel to read.
