Book Review: ‘Wish You Were Here: A Novel’ By Jodi Picoult

It’s March 2020 and for Diana O’Toole things are going good for her. She has a great Doctor Boyfriend Finn, who she thinks is going to propose on their upcoming trip to the Galapagos Islands and is in line for a promotion at her job at Sotheby’s auction house. But New York is just starting to see the Covid pandemic hit and Finn is not able to go now. Diana still goes and then the city is put on lockdown. She gets to the island but they’re now on lockdown and barely anyone is there. Diana makes friends with the lady she’s staying with, her granddaughter and her father (who she sleeps with) and is for the most past cut off from the rest of the world. She soon questions everything in her life. But a shocking twist takes place and it makes Diana question things even more about her life. This is another great Jodi Picoult novel that’s heavy on the characters and is well-written based on the real-life pandemic that was/is taking place. A real page-turning novel.
