Lucy McNeil has had twin boys, who are now 3 months old, and has scaled back her hours at the Bodie Island Lighthouse Library. She has hired Nichelle Gilcrest, who has moved from Rochester, New York, to take a job as assistant director, and moves into the small apartment at the top of the lighthouse, along with resident cat Charlie. Her first morning on the job, she finds a dead body outside the front door of the library. As she looks at the body, Nichelle thinks it might be her long-missing father, who vanished 38 years ago. When her brother comes to town, he helps look into the murder, along with some of the locals. They soon learn shocking things about the dead man, and it seems there may be quite a list of people who might have wanted him dead. Another good lighthouse series murder mystery, and the introduction of Nickelle opens the series up with Lucy having her new babies. Fans of the series will enjoy this new one, and as always, Charlie the cat is a great character.
