Annie Blunt is a successful author of children’s books until a tragic accident happened to a child. She has lost her husband, who was hit by a car crossing the street. She decides to take her son Charlie and leave New Your City for the summer, renting a house upstate, in a small town. What she doesn’t know is this house has a bad history of things happening. When Charlie finds a train set in a shed, he sets it up and things start to happen. We soon learn via flashback chapters of an evil man who opened a train store years ago in a town called Lucknow and ended up destroying the place. Now Charlie is being called to him and Annie must find him and try and defeat this evil to save herself and her son. This is the first horror novel author Linwood Barclay has written and it’s a good one. Filled with twists and turns and pure evil, this one will keep you on the edge of your seat.
