The year is 2000 and former child star, and Oscar Winner, Echo Blue is supposed to be on TRL Live with Carson Daley on MTV. It’s her return to the spotlight, and she’s at the studio but never makes it on air, she has vanished, and no one knows where she is. Goldie Klein is a reporter, and grew up obsessed with Echo and still is. She gets her boss to okay her doing a story trying to find Echo. She’s off to Los Angeles, and talks to as many people as she can, Echo’s manager, her father (a star as well), her former best friend, and no one knows where she is. Goldie is doing everything she can to try and find her and figure out what happened to her when she has a revelation about her story and what she’s trying to find. The book is told from the point of views of both Goldie and Echo, as we watch her grow up in the business, and we finally find out what happened to Echo and how both women’s live’s change. This is a well-written, character-driven novel, that looks at the seedy world of Hollywood, and of obsession to a certain point. It’s one of those novels you don’t want to put down.
