The year is 1943 and Vivian Snow’s husband Tom is missing, he was supposed to be fighting during WWII. She’s a singer, dancer, and actress on tour with Danny Kaye, until she discovers she’s pregnant. We follow her along her career over the years as she gets a studio contract, marries a powerful director, who turns out to be an ass, wins Oscars and has a powerful secret that could destroy her and her best friend, a priest named Father Trombello. Her life is that of an actress of that day, fighting for what she wants, and trying to stop the people that can hurt her, all along knowing she can never have the man she truly loves. This is a great book, that shows the pitfalls of the Hollywood system back in the day, the powerful men who want to control women, and a love story that could never be. You will not want to put this one down.
