Two people from different worlds fall for each other but it may not be enough because they’re from different worlds. Olivia Shore is an opera singer and a famous one. Thaddeus Walker Bowman Owens is a former Heisman winning Quarterback and has been in the league for years. He’s currently the back-up QB for the Chicago Stars. Both have an endorsement deal with a luxury watch company and are going on a four week promotional trip. They get off on a bad note when Olivia, who’s a Diva, was given bad information about Thad and then learns the truth and things between them change. There’s an attraction between them but Olivia has been burned and doesn’t want to get in any type of commitment. And then Thad learns that someone is threatening Olivia and he becomes her bodguard/protector as they move on the tour. He also learns about her last boyfriend and what happened to him. It has caused Olivia to have singing issues, which he’s helping her with. They become involved with the agreement being it won’t last long. But these things tend to cause feelings and it’s no different here. They fall in love but Olivia knows it can’t be and Thad doesn’t want to play second fiddle to her career. And then the person who has been harrassing Olivia makes a move and it could change everything for the two.

This is the first time I have read one of author Susan Elizaneth Phillips ‘Stars’ books and I really enjoyed it. Well-written characters and a fun story of two people falling in love who never would have given the other the time of day. It’s also a good look at the world of Opera and Football, especially with the character of the first string QB, who plays a fun role in the story. It’s part rom-com and part thriller but all heart.

You can pick up When Stars Collide in stores on Tuesday, June 29th from William Morrow.
