Flavia de Luce is back in action after five years, and is investigating the death of Major Greyleigh, who has been poisoned by mushrooms, cooked by Luce’s cook, Mrs. Mullet, a prime suspect in his death. She picked mushrooms in the forest, has been for years, and Flavia soon discovers that someone put a deadly poison into the mushrooms that were served. Helping her along is her younger cousin, Undine, who is a pain in the ass, but very useful as well. Her investigation leads her to a shocking discovery about a secret organization, and someone she thought was dead, and finds out the Major was indeed murdered on orders from this group, she just has to figure out who did it. This is the eleventh book in the series, and my first time reading one. I thoroughly enjoyed it, Flavia is a well-written, smart character, and with the supporting cast, this novel is a pleasure to read. Longtime fans and new fans will enjoy this latest novel in the series.
