Twenty years ago, Coco’s family was murdered in their house on Catalina Island, and now she has returned to the island for the first time since it happened. She owns the house they were killed in, and her mean spirited aunt Gwen lives in the house. She is escaping her horrible ex, and has a job at the island paper, thanks to her friend Matty. And then it turns out the man who was arrested for the murders has been cleared with new DNA evidence, and older people on the island are turning up dead, and someone wants Coco gone, one way or the other. Coco thinks there’s more to these elderly people dying than just heart issues, and thinks it’s somehow tied to her families murders. And she’s not wrong, as someone is telling her that she will die soon, and with covid hitting, and no way to get off the island, she may just meet her end. A solid psychological thriller, with many twists and turns to keep the reader engaged. You root for Coco to find the killer, and not die in the process. Fans of thrillers will be happy with this one.
