Book Review: ‘Welcome To Beach Town: A Novel’ By Susan Wiggs

Nikki Graziola lives in a small California beach town called Alara Cove (on the poor side), where she grew up on the water, and is an expert surfer. She also got into the Thornton academy on a scholarship, where usually only the rich and powerful get in. On the first day of orientation, she met Mark, who would become her best friend. Then right before graduation, where Nikki is the valedictorian, Mark dies, and it’s ruled a drug overdose. Nikki knows the truth, and during her speech she goes off script and the secret, that exposes the truth. Her life is blown apart as well, until she meets Johnny, part of a surfing league, and she goes off with him, marries him, and moves to Australia, where years later her life falls apart. Now she is back in Alara, a place she never wanted to come back to, and is restarting her life, and maybe finding love again. Another great character driven novel from Susan Wiggs. She never writes a bad book, and fans of hers will love this one.

You can pick up Welcome To Beach Town in stores on Tuesday, June 20th from William Morrow.
