Hailey and Jonah were married years ago and have a little girl named Maya. He has never liked her family and he is also a controlling man. One day he just decides he wants a divorce and sets out to make her life miserable during the process. The beginning of the book tells us that Jonah has been shot to death and Hailey is being questioned. The back then backtracks to before the murder and we follow her with her family, and everything going on with her parents and brothers and the fights with Jonah about Hailey and the divorce. We soon learn what happened to Jonah and how it may involve her family. This is a well-written character-driven novel, with a few well-timed twists. This is one you don’t want to put down.
