Kay Scarpetta and Marino find themselves working with her niece Lucy, who is a Secret Service agent, when word comes that the bodies of two suspected Russian terrorists have been found in a remote are called Buckingham Run, and one body is in a mine shaft. The bodies have been mutilated as well, and it’s a hell of time getting them recovered. It seems someone was looking for something, but never found it, but Kay does during the autopsies. She and Marino also find out from the FBI, including her husband, that an old nemesis is still alive, one they thought dead seven years ago. When a storm approaches, Kay is driven off the road, but is okay, strange things happened at her house, a mysterious phone call leads to two more dead bodies, and Kay’s life being in danger, is this the past coming back to haunt her? This is the 27th book in the series, and another good one. This is one of my favorite series, and author Patricia never disappoints with these novels. Older fans and newer ones will enjoy this one.
