Alfie Logan was 8 when he discovered he had a secret magical power if he says twice, he can have a do-over on something that has already happened by going back in time and must accept what happened on the second time. In present day, he has been arrested for allegedly cheating on a roulette table at a casino in Nassau. When he explains what is going on to the detective, and he produces a journal about his life for him to read, the detective finds it hard to believe. As he reads along in the journal, the reader does as well, and we learn about Alfie’s life, the woman he loved, married and lost, and how his life may be ending, to convince him that everything he has written is true. This is another amazing, heartwarming novel by author Mitch Albom, who never disappoints with his novels. Have some tissues handy, you will need them.
