The setting is once again Rudolph, New York, and Merry is excited to help launch the cookbook release of her best friend, Vicky, with a book release party. Before that, though, it’s time for the hospital fundraising costume party, and anyone who is anyone will be there. Vicky is helping to cater the event, and Merry overhears a couple of different fights among guests, including one with Vicky and her nemesis, Cynthia, who wrote a negative review of her book. Later that evening, she collapses and dies at the hospital she was poisoned. Merry is on the case, and soon finds her life in danger when the killer tries to take her out to protect their identity, and gets help from an unlikely source. This is the ninth book in the series, and it’s another good one. The small town cast of characters, including a couple of dogs, are fun and quirky. Fans of the series will enjoy this one.
