Will Trent and Sara have finally gotten married and are on their honeymoon at McAlpine Lodge in Georgia. The lodge has been owned by the McAlpine family for decades, and the parents now want to sell it. Mercy, their only daughter, who runs the lodge, does not want to sell and it starts a family feud, to be fair this is a dysfunctional family already. On their first night there, Will Trent hears screaming, and finds Mercy stabbed in a lake, and she dies in Will’s arms. Will decides he is going to investigate, and all signs point to Dave, Mercy’s abusive ex, who she still carries on with, but he soon figures it could be any of her family. He thinks he has the killer nailed down, then a shocking twist is revealed and he must figure out who really is the killer. This is another great Will Trent novel. I don’t think author Karin Slaughter has ever written a bad one. Long-time fans and new fans will enjoy this one.
