Sam Tombs, along with seven other real crime influencers, is invited to a week-long retreat at a mountain mansion in Southern California. She is dismayed to learn that one of the people had to drop out, and her arch online nemesis, Dylan, has taken that person’s place, and she has to share a room with him. On the first night, a rainstorm knocks the bridge out, and then they find the dead body of one of the influencers. They have no phones and no way to get away from the mansion. Then another body is found, Sam suffers an injury, and no one can be trusted. They all decide to work together to try to figure out who the killer is. They soon find clues and a journal that could give them answers, and then Sam and Dylan find their lives in danger. An engaging murder mystery, with twists and turns, and a slow-building potential romance for Sam and Dylan, highlight this young adult novel.
