Book Review: ‘Theater Of Spies: A Novel’ By S.M. Stirling

S,M. Sterling is back with his second alternative history novel following last years Black Chamber. The story is set during WWI when Teddy Roosevelt is President and the US against the Germans. Luz O’Malley and love interest Clara Whelan are back and set to go to Europe and find out about a new weapons system the Germans have seemed to develop.

To get there is a chore. They have to have fake IDs and their travel takes them to out of the way countries before they can make it to Europe and get to Berlin. Getting into the plant they need to get into is challenging and on top of that they are being trailed by an elite German agent known as the Imperial Sword. He wants revenge against them for things that happened in the first book.

Will they be able to get the information they need, get out of Germany and stay off the radar of the Imperial Sword?

A really interesting premise using an alternative reality and telling a real story in a different way. It’s an intense read that has great characters that you root for and I found myself not being able to put the book down. And if you’re a fan of action this story is for you.

You can pick up Theater Of Spies in stores on Tuesday, May 7th from Ace Trade Paperback.
