It’s tourist season on the San Juan Islands and that means a lot of people in town and out on the water. Former FBI agent Neil Devereaux is now a tour guide and he’s on the boat with a co-worker and seven people out for a tour when a bomb goes off killing all. FBI Special Agent Matt Costa is leading the team investigating along with Kara Quinn, the former Los Angeles Cop, who had to leave there because her life was in danger (from a previous book). They have to narrow down who might have wanted someone on the boat killed and look into each person that was on the boat. Then another explosion with another body, then another murder and an old cold-case that Neil was working on (even afer his retirement) comes to light and may be tied to the explosion. Tension among the team also takes place as Matt and Kara have had a secret thing going on and the sexual tension is hard to ignore. An arrest, a kidnapping and an unhinged person leads to a shocking showdown and lives in danger. Another solid book in the series with more development with Quinn and Costa and new characters that have an impact on things going forward. A solid mystery, with twists and turns to keep you guessing along the way.
