Olivia Blunt, who is 25, works as a fact-checker for an online news site. She finds an ad for Aubrey Merritt, who is the most famous PI in America, looking for an assistant. Aubrey is smart and straightforward and gruff and Olivia thinks she bombed her interview, only to be surprised when she gets the job. When Haley Summersworth, whose mother Victoria just died and it was ruled a suicide, calls to hire Aubrey to look into the death, she thinks she was murdered, and they’re off to Vermont to investigate. They start talking to the family members, employees at the resort she owned and her boyfriend. There are a number of suspects and Olivia gets her first taste of being a PI when she learns facts of the case on her own. She finds her life in danger and as the day of the reading of the will comes, Aubrey announces she will reveal who the killer is. This is a great novel. Watching the relationship between Olivia and Aubrey is fun to follow and the reader feels just like a detective as we follow along on the case. This is one not to be missed. I hope there will be many more adventures with these two characters.
