Julia Barlow has been forced to move back to Pemberton, her family’s estate, after many years of avoiding it. She will be living with her Grandmother and Great Aunt. When she gets there, she thinks she sees something in the attic, and then strange things start happening. She’s told it’s because of Caroline, who was hanged in 1692 for being a witch, and is buried on the estate. As Julia starts investigating, things don’t add up, and when she has a ghost hunter check out the house, and has a paternity test done, things really don’t add up. It all leads to a shocking reveal, and lives in danger. This is a duel storyline story, as it also follows along with Caroline in 1692 and what led up to her being accused of witchcraft, and what happened to her. This is another incredible novel from author McFadden, who never disappoints with her books. The story is a page-turner, and you are blindsided by the incredible twists. This one must be read.
