Rikki Thunder had a tough childhood and the one thing he did have was music. He was a fan of KISS and Aerosmith and took up the drums and became damn good at it. He formed a band with his best friend and they had minor success. Then Tawny came along, she works at a music magazine, loves drummers and has a way to get fans to shows. She and Rikki become hot and heavy and she tells him that Whyte Python, a band about to break big, needs a new drummer and Rikki gets the gig. What he doesn’t know is Tawny is not who she says she is. She works for the CIA and they have a plan for Rikki and the band, to help the revolution happening in the Iron Curtain, only Rikki doesn’t know any of this. He soon learns the truth, agrees to help and when they do their tour of those countries all hell breaks loose, as the enemy knows something is going down with the band and the CIA. This is a really fun, pop-culture-fueled look at the 80’s metal scene. I lived during that time and I still am a fan of a lot of the bands mentioned in this book. It’s also a good action thriller, with some LOL moments. Like Bret Michaels sings ‘I Don’t Need Nothin’ But A Good Time’ that’s what this book is….a good time!
