Author Tara Moss has started a new series featuring the character of Billie Walker as a female private investigator in Australia right after WWII. And it is great. Billie is a strong, smart, sexy and confident character who will stop at nothing to get to the truth. It will be fun reading future adventures with her and her trusted sideckick Sam (who is another great character in the book).
Sydney, Australia in 1946 post WWII and Billie Walker has taken over the private investigation business her late father had. She’s on her own now as her husband Jack disappeated two years ago and no one has seen or heard from him since (which lays the framework for story for future novels and makes hew a War Widow). Billie is barely making it in her business along with her trusted sidekick Sam (a man). And then she gets a job to find a 17 year old missing boy. It leads to an upscale dance club for society. It leads Billie to uncover a Nazi war criminal in her mists, a dead body in her bedroom and a Detective Inspector named Hank Cooper, who is at first suspicious of her and but ends up working with her. And there is a good sexual tension between the two but they may never get to act on it, as Billie finds her life in danger and it may be too late for her.
You can pick up The War Widow in stores on Tuesday, Decemeber 29th from Dutton.
