Book Review: ‘The Wall Of Winnipeg And Me: A Novel’ By Mariana Zapata

Vanessa has spent the last two years working as the personal assistant to hunky football player Aiden, who is from Canada, in Dallas. She’s fed up doing the job, as he is moody, not friendly, and just a pain. She ends up walking out on the job, after overhearing something his agent said. Now weeks later, Aiden is at her door begging her to come back. He will pay off her student loans, buy her a house, give her a raise, there’s just one catch, she has to do something to help him stay in the country. When she agrees to it, she moves into his house, and the two find themselves becoming friendly, opening up to each other, and dare I say falling for each other. What was supposed to be a business arraignment seems to be turning into something more. Can they let go of their baggage, and be together? This is a really well-written, character driven rom-com. It has everything you want, and more. If I did a top-ten list of these kind of novels, it would be top five for sure. A perfect beach read.
