Following last years great novel Eagle & Crane, author Suzanne Rindell is back with her new thriller The Two Mrs. Carlyles. A thriller that features twists and turns, betrayals, friendship, love and secrets. A great summertime thriller.

Violet, Cora and Flossie met at a young age at St. Hilda’s Home for Girls and became fast friends. They talked about someday running away from there. Then one day there was a fire that burned the place down and they escaped to a seedy part of San Francisco and found jobs as dancers for Cora and Flossie (both 16 at that time) and Violet (age 14) as a cook. They worked for a mean, rich man.

Then the massive earthquake of 1906 happened and the three of them had cracked the safe and taken all the money and gold and divided it between the three of them. But it involves a secret.

They ended up going their own ways and Violet met a widower named Harry Carlyle and they feel in love. Violet also met up with Cora and Flossie after a long absence. Violet and Harry got married and then things started getting weird. Harry wouldn’t really talk about his first wife and said she was in Italy but had her declared dead. She moved in his mansion that was rebuilt after the earthquake exactly like it was before.

As the days went by strange things were happening in the mansion. It seemed to be haunted by the legacy of Madeline, Harry’s first wife. Violet thinks she’s losing her mind. Is it the ghost of his first wife, is Violet crazy or is something else going on?

You can pick up The Two Mrs. Carlyles in stores on Tuesday, July 28th from Putnam.
