Book Review: ‘The Third To Die’ Is A Thrilling Novel By Allison Brennan

A serial killer who kills every three years on March 3, 6th and 9th is back for the third time in a small town near Spokane, Washington. He has killed a nurse and then will come a someone in education and then someone in law enforcement, as is his MO. The FBI is quickly on the case with Mathias Costa heading up the team that heads to Washington. He’s joined by a variety of experts on his team. He has to deal with the local police (and a chief who has a stick up his butt) in a race against time.

Also there is LAPD detective Kara Quinn, who is on leave and visiting her Grandmother for two weeks. She comes across the body of the nurse on a morning jog and ends up helping out as well. It’s a race against time to find this person with very little to go on. No name, no DNA in the system and knowing that he will kill again in a matter of days. Slowly they get clues and start to figure out who this person is and who he is after. The second killing happens even after warning everyone. Now they race to stop the third killing and to try and capture this guy before it’s too late and he’s gone.

This is the start of a new series for author Allison Brennan and it is great. The characters of Matt and Kara are awesome and the story is a page-turner. I couldn’t put the book down. It starts off fast and never lets up on the action or character development. I know it’s early in the year but it’s one of the best novels already to come out.
