J.P. Beaumont is an ex-cop and sometimes private detective. His wife, Mel, has finally retired as chief of police in Bellingham, and he has a surprise party planned for her, and they they’re going on a trip. Gina is leaving Alaska for an internship in Seattle, and when she arrives at the airport, she is kidnapped. Twinkie Winkleman, who is a wiz with cars, is asked to help find Gina when her grandparents think something bad has happened. She reaches out to J.P., known to people as Beau, who takes the case and soon discovers that other girls have gone missing as well. Working with a police detective and the FBI, Gina’s location is found, and a rescue mission is launched to save her and hopefully the other missing girls. The 24th novel in the series is another good one. Author Jance ramps up the story with the two leads, in Beau and Mel, and a good supporting cast of characters. Longtme fans of the series will enjoy this one.
