Book Review: ‘The Takedown: A Novel’ By Carlie Walker

Sydney Swift has been working for the CIA for years, she gets people to flip, and work for the United States. She gets her new assignment, and it hits close to home. Her sister Calla is engaged to Johnny Jones, who is the heir to the family criminal organization, and they’re all at the family home in Maine for Christmas. She needs to get the dirt on him before Christmas, as something big is going down, and the wedding is planned for that day. Then she meets Nick, the bodyguard of Johnny, and everything changes. She tries to get info from him, and they end up falling for each other. But just who is, and can he be trusted. When Sydney finally figures things out, it may be too late for her family, her relationship with Nick, and an unlikely hero to maybe save the day. This is a fun rom-com/action novel, with just enough romance, action, spy’s and bad guys, plus an awesome dog. I wouldn’t mine more novels with Sydney and Nick.
